Grace First Baptist Church of Garrettville: The name Grace is Our Granddaughter’s name. The Church was formed in the early 1900s when the Garrett family formed the town. This is when Garrett Mine was created. During this time, they went from horse drawn carriages to motorized firetrucks. The town still has its original firehouse. In the 1940s the fire department added two additional buildings. During this time, they built the current police station. They also built the current commercial buildings between the police station and church. The Garrett family has also built three estate. In modern times, they have built the truck stop, and three condos behind Bj’s café. Over the years, the town has kept its small-town vibe.
